The members of the Rella family were born with a passion for cooking and pleasure. Cooking spoons and aprons have been passed down from generation to generation for decades. While grandmother, Margherita, and mamma, Nadia, rely on down-to-earth South Tyrolean home cooking, son and hotel manager, Matteo, has recently been up-dating tried and tested recipes to suit contemporary tastes. While Matteo, a trained chef, cooked his way through several national houses and gained a lot of work experience, he finally met Andrea, who over the years, with a lot of hard work, skill, and dedication, became the head chef at Hotel Niblea. The results of this collaboration are culinary delicacies that delight the senses – and which sweeten your stay at our hotel in Val Gardena/Gröden and thus, your holiday in the Dolomites.
Matteo discovered his passion for the world of wine as a junior manager at Hotel Niblea. This soon advanced the trained chef from the kitchen to the dining room. His experience in the kitchen combined with his profound knowledge of wine creates an ideal base for a perfect gourmet experience in the restaurant at your accommodation near Ortisei/St. Ulrich. Matteo is at your disposal with advice and assistance to recommend suitable fine wines to accompany your menu. Whether popular classics, local wines such as Vernatsch, Lagrein, and Gewürztraminer, or real rarities from our treasure trove, the wine list at Hotel Niblea is considered one of the best collections in South Tyrol.
Our good, varied, and regional cuisine has always been an important figurehead for our house, attracting gourmets and gourmands from near and far to our parlour. In keeping with the spirit of the times, even grandmother and mum serve their guests traditional South Tyrolean farmer's delicacies, delicious treats, and true soul-stirrers. Ultimately, son Matteo has brought new wind into the kitchen of our house after three years of training. With his creative ideas he has gently elaborated the dishes while preserving the family tradition by combining new ingredients with old classics, inventing new ways of presentation, and skilfully staging the gifts of nature.
